Harold Bordwin, President

Harold Bordwin is an officer and principal of Keen Consultants, LLC.

Harold has negotiated the sale of businesses as well as fee-owned and leasehold properties throughout the country, has auctioned real estate, has orchestrated and conducted workout negotiations and has supervised the valuation of properties nationwide.

Harold formerly has worked at the law firms of Stroock & Stroock & Lavan and McKenna, Conner & Cuneo in Los Angeles. He graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn., with a bachelor of arts degree in 1982, and Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. with a Juris Doctor in 1985, and continues to study at the New York University Real Estate Institute. His professional affiliations include: The State Bar of California, International Council of Shopping Centers, American Bankruptcy Institute, Turnaround Management Association, Commercial Law Luague of America, and American Bar Association-Business Bankruptcy Section.


Matt Bordwin, Executive Vice President

Matt Bordwin is a principal of the company. Matt has been employed with Keen since 1996. Clients with whom Matt has worked include: Arthur Andersen, Spiegel/Eddie Bauer, Tommy Hilfiger, Fruit of the Loom Liquidation Trust, Edison Brothers, Penthouse/General Media, Coda/Jeans West, Stage Stores, Pic 'N Pay, Service Merchandise and Family Golf Centers.

Prior to joining Keen, Matt worked in the marketing department for the New York Mets and the New Jersey Nets. Matt is a graduate of Tufts University with a bachelor of arts degree in political science and a graduate of Fordham University School of Law with a Juris Doctor. Matt is a licensed attorney in both New York and New Jersey. His professional affiliations include: The New York State Bar Association, New Jersey State Bar Association, Nassau County Bar Association, American Bar Association, the International Council of Shopping Centers, Turnaround Management Association, American Bankruptcy Institute and the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees.


Moe Bordwin, Founder and Chairman

Moe Bordwin created the bankruptcy real estate industry in the mid-1970's with his work in the Food Fair Supermarkets Chapter 11 proceedings. From that matter, Moe emerged as the leading authority on the valuation and disposition of real estate in troubled situations. Moe has experience working with all types of real property, but has attained particular expertise in dealing with retail properties. Due to Moe's vast experience, he has been approved as bankruptcy trustee by the United States Bankruptcy Court-Eastern District of New York.

Prior to founding Keen, Moe was an executive vice president of Stone-East Associates, Inc. Stone East represented debtors in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in the sale of real estate nationwide. He graduated from City College of New York with a bachelor of science degree and from Fordham University School of Law with a Juris Doctor. His professional affiliations include: The New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, the International Council of Shopping Centers, Surprise Lake Day Camp (director) and Congregation Tifereth Israel (trustee).


Craig Fox, Vice President

Craig has been employed with Keen since 1990 and has been a vice president since 1999. Prior to joining Keen, Craig worked for Marine Midland Bank. He graduated from Lehigh University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance in 1988. Craig specializes in the marketing and disposition of excess real estate and leaseholds and the negotiation of settlements and rent concessions with landlords. Craig is a licensed real estate salesperson in NY.

Craig has disposed of millions of dollars worth of real property and leases for numerous clients across the country. Additionally, he has saved his clients millions of dollars by negotiating settlements and rent reductions on thousands of properties. Craig recently supervised the disposition of over $100,000,000 worth of real estate for Family Golf Centers. Additionally, Craig was instrumental in saving Footlocker’s closing Northern Reflections division over $50,000,000 in liability. Other clients with whom Craig has worked include; Warnaco Group, Arthur Andersen, Herman’s Sporting Goods, Fayva Shoe, Garden Botanika and Mondi of America. His professional affiliations include: the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Turnaround Management Association.


Christopher Mahoney, Vice President

Chris has been employed with Keen since 1990 and has been a Vice President since 1999. Prior to joining Keen, Chris worked for Henry Boeckmann, Jr. & Associates Real Estate Appraisers. Chris is a licensed real estate salesperson in NY. He graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management in 1990. Chris received his MBA in 2000 from Dowling College. Chris is responsible for the management of all of Keen’s internal systems and assists in the management of case load and personnel. Chris specializes in the valuation, marketing and disposition of all real estate assets and works on strategic planning with many of his clients.

Chris has overseen the disposition of several real estate portfolios and large industrial properties which generated millions of dollars for his clients. Additionally, Chris has valued several real estate and leasehold portfolios for companies and financial institutions. Chris has valued over 60 million square feet of all types of property worth millions of dollars. Clients with whom Chris has worked include WR Grace & Co., Caldor Corporation, Transamerica Business Credit, General Electric Capital Corporation, Cumberland Farms, Long John Silver Restaurants, Graham Field Health Products, Pic ‘n Pay Stores and Cooker Restaurants. His professional affiliations include: The International Council of Shopping Centers and the Turnaround Management Association.


Michael Matlat, Vice President

Mike Matlat started with Keen in June 1993 and has been a vice president since 1999. He specializes in the disposition of real estate and negotiating terminations, concessions and settlements with landlords. Mike is the ultimate facilitator. He brings together buyers, sellers, attorneys and anyone else who may be involved in a transaction.

Keen Realty is Mike’s third job since graduating college in 1991 from Flagler College, St. Augustine, FL with a BA in Business. Prior to Keen, Mike worked his way through college as a member of local 1298 Laborers Union. After graduation he sold copiers door-to-door for Lanier Worldwide. While accomplishing all his goals at Lanier he developed his selling skills and work ethic and now applies them every day at Keen.

Some of Mike’s accomplishments at Keen involve the sale of the famous Barney’s New York building on 7th Ave for $21,500,000; the sale of a Service Merchandise warehouse in Montgomery, NY for $23,200,000; the disposition of Crowley Milner/Steinbach Stores for over $15 million; the sublease of 65 properties totaling over 2.1 million square feet; and the sale of thousands of leases around the country for millions of dollars to both national and local retailers. Mike was instrumental in the settlement of leasehold liability for Footstar, as well as for Footlocker's Northern Reflections division. Other clients with whom Mike has worked include Arthur Andersen, Quality Stores, Clinton Mills Industries and Meadowcraft, Inc. His professional affiliations include: the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Turnaround Management Association where he serves as a board member and Secretary of the Long Island Chapter.
